Friendship in Harmony
What a fabulous evening of song we shared with Rolls Royce Ladies Choir on Saturday May 16th to raise money for the incredible charity – Women’s Work Derby.

Much of the programme highlighted amazing women in music and themes of acceptance and support. These are at the heart of both the choirs and the great work that the charity does.
Women’s Work support vulnerable women and families by providing essential skills and helping instil confidence to truly flourish in lives.
There were amazing versions of the Weather Girls’“It’s raining men”, Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams”, “ This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman and the timeless classic “You Raise Me up”
The sentiment of the joint finale of Dona Nobis Pacem – “grant us peace” was a fitting close to an uplifting evening of superb singing from both choirs. An excerpt recording of the concert can be listened below.

Sonara Live On BBC East Midlands Today
What a fabulous time we had when Steve Bruce visited us from BBC East Midlands Today. It was quite strange being filmed during rehearsal but Steve put us at our ease. It was very exciting to be featured on all the news features throughout the day and also on the BBC Radio Derby. What felt best of all was that the BBC also thought that our 90 years of singing was worth celebrating and we certainly think it is.

Glorious Our Spring Concert with Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir
“Glorious” – that was the word used by Morriston Orpheus Male Voice Choir to describe our joint concert at Cavendish Hall Chatsworth and we absolutely agree. Our compere for the evening, Richard Moulder, was eloquent and witty with his introductions and we were treated to items in Welsh and a fabulous medley of contemporary songs by Welsh artists as well as part of Morriston Orpheus’s set. It was a great programme that complimented our own. The joint choir finale of “You Raise Me Up” was really something to behold and was a fitting piece that celebrated voices in harmony and the joy of singing. A special mention has to go to our MD Nicola Hunt who blew everyone away with her amazing vocal talent and also to our accompanist Lorna Flear with a mesmerising piano solo as well as an incredibly skilled performance throughout.
It was a truly memorable evening of music that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to everyone involved.
